The International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage”. Pain can be devided into two categories, including acute pain and chronic pain. As a common clinical symptom of a variety of diseases, the incidence of pain has always been very high. According to the survey, about 40% of outpatient patients have pain symptoms, of which more than half of patients with pain as the main symptoms. Pain not only brings physical and mental damages to patients, but also brings heavy burden to families and society. There is a huge financial cost for the treatment of pain. In the United States alone, the total annual cost of treating chronic pain is estimated at more than 100 million dollars. At present, there are two main types of drugs clinically used to relieve and treat pain, namely opioid analgesics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. However, both of these pain relievers have side effects and adverse reactions, such as intestinal discomfort, addiction, etc. Here in the AFD database, we used PubMed, Google academic and other literature databases for investigation and collected some active factors with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. The database contains the source, structure, animal models of analgesic factors, pain inhibition rate and effective dose of each analgesic factor, route of administration, general analgesic action mechanism and so on. In addition, we also provided the literature source of each analgesic factor, i.e. the web site of DOI. Some of the analgesic factors in this database are the alkaloids, polyphenols, flavonoids isolated from medicinal plants, some are the peptides that comes from animals, and the rest are the compounds personally synthesized. With the information this database provided, you can get some ideas about how to do the study for pain and even to find or create a substance with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. And we hope this database will provided some basic research data for pain treatment, and provided some ideas for the development of analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs, so as to contribute to the medical and pharmaceutical industry.
